On June 12 the Golden Blades Regatta kicks off in Saint-Petersburg
This year's Regatta will be carried out in the format of a super sprint race. A distance of 200 meters will be laid in the waters of the Kronverksky Strait along the fortress, which will allow participants and visitors enjoy the beautiful views of the sea capital of Russia.
In the main program of The St. Petersburg Golden Blades Regatta, the strongest of world's crews will compete in the following classes of boats: M8 + (men's eight), W8 + (women's eight), M1x (men's single), W1x (women's single), M8+, W8+ (men's and women's eight students), 2M, 2W (club crews — Association Cup), 4-M (club crews — English Club Cup), 2-W (club crews — Kronverk Cup), 4+ M4+ W (veterans of 50 years of age and older — Federation Cup). The competition will be attended by sportsmen from different countries and of different age categories starting with the school-age and ending with the outstanding sportsmen of the past. Special entertainment event crews will add to the competition in the classes of "Marine Yals", "Vikings" and "Dragons". Their crews consist not only from professional athletes but amateur rowers as well.
Among the guests of the event are Minister of Justice Alexander Konovalov, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, President of the Russian Rowing Federation Veniamin Boot, five-time Olympic rowing champion Sir Steven Redgrave.
We are pleased to invite you to attend the opening ceremony of the event which will take place on June 11 at 18:00 at the English Rowing Club. There will be a press conference at the beginning of the reception, after which guests will be offered a cocktail dinner and a concert program on the island as well as an amusement ride on "Vikings".
